Composite Bearings Feature Locking Collar for Secure Fit
A newly offered "locking collar" for Marathon® Composite Mounted Bearing Units creates an increased contact area between bearings and shaft to provide a strong and secure fit resistant to slippage. This enhanced arrangement offers a reliable alternative to traditional set screw methods for mounting.
Marathon units equipped with the "locking collar" are ideally suited for applications that have constant direction of rotation or experience frequent starts and stops, including machinery used in the vegetable, fruit, and food processing industries and industrial operations.
They further make bearing removal easier by providing access to the set screw dimple created on the shaft surface during the initial mounting procedure. This access allows the raised edges around the dimple to be filed in order to easily slide the bearing off the shaft.
The composite units incorporate corrosion-resistant insert bearings protected with MRC's ZMaRC® coating; highly effective double rubber lip seals; and USDA approved (H1) sealed-for-life lubricants to provide virtually maintenance-free operation and promote extended service life.
Their housings (up to 61% lighter than cast iron) integrate embedded steel coils for excellent fracture strength. A cavity-free base enables the units to mount flush with surfaces and eliminates gaps that otherwise could allow contaminants to collect.
A wide variety of sizes and housing designs can satisfy particular application-specific demands. Housing styles include pillow block, flange, tapped base, take-up, and bracket flange.
