Chinese-designed Magnetic Bearing Wins US Invention Patent
According to local Chinese media reports, Li Guokun, a scientist from the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu, won a US patent for invention for his magnetic bearing in 2007.
Self-controlled using permanent magnet, Li's magnetic bearing is reported to be one in a hundred to one in several hundred in size and
price, compared to conventional products. It is easy to install, too, requiring only ordinary workers. Furthermore, basically no maintenance is required.
The magnetic bearing invented by Li has been employed by Guangzhou Zhongke Hengyuan Energy Technology Co Ltd in its wind power generators.
