China's Machinery Industry Reports 29% Growth in First Half

China's machinery output totaled RMB2,496.557 billion for the first half of 2006, up 29.39% year-on-year, according to the statistics from China Machinery Industry Federation.

Total sales of machinery reached RMB2,417.744 billion, up 28.99% year-on-year.

The statistics also showed that the growth of output and sales in May and June was even higher.

By sector, machinery for the construction, agricultural and automotive sectors demonstrated a higher growth in output value, whereas the growth in the culture and office equipment sector reported a drop.
