China Machine Tool Industry Goes Up in Q1

In the first three months of 2009, China produced a total of 139,000 units of metal-cutting machine tools, down 16.4% from the previous year, but up 5.6% from the fourth quarter of 2008, according to the latest statistic from China National Statistics Bureau.

In March, the production volume of metal-cutting machine tools amounted to 54,100 units, down 18.3% from the same period of last year, but up 27.7% from February of 2009.
