China Crude Steel Output Down 0.2% In November

Crude steel output in China fell 0.2 percent year-on-year in November, citing the National Development and Reform Commission. Crude steel output had risen 4.8 percent year-on-year in November 2010.

The output of steel materials rose 7.8 percent year-on-year in November, while exports of steel materials totaled 4.2 million tons, an addition of 380,000 tons from October.

China imported a total of 1.23 million tons of steel materials in November, up 30,000 tons from October.

For the first 10 months, the steel industry recorded a 30.6 percent year-on-year increase in profits to 258.8 billion yuan.

The ferrous metal exploration sector recorded a 57.4 percent year-on-year rise in profits to 81.7 billion yuan, while the ferrous metal processing sector posted profits of 124.6 billion yuan, up 16.7 percent.
