On the other hand, the amount of residual austenite can improve the toughness and crack growth resistance; under certain conditions, an appropriate amount of residual austenite of the workpiece surface can also reduce the contact stress concentration, serve to improve the fatigue life of the bearing contact role.
(1) too high content of residual austenite affect bearing dimensional stability; rather low residual austenite content will reduce the toughness of steel bearings, bearing contact fatigue life decreased.
(2) improve the tempering temperature, increasing the tempering time; supplemental water-cooled cryogenic treatment after quenching; while extending additional tempering time, can effectively reduce the retained austenite content to enhance organizational stability.
(3) For the super-precision bearings, stability control retained austenite content sufficient to guarantee the accuracy requirements. Improve the residual austenite stability is the key to the heat treatment of ultra-precision bearing parts.
