Barden's Festive Celebrations Raise £950 for Charity

A prize draw held by employees of The Barden Corporation (UK) at their annual Christmas dinner and dance evening has raised £950 for Plymouth charity, St Luke's Hospice. More than 100 members of staff attended the event at The New Continental Hotel in December.

Dr Graham Stirling, Managing Director of Barden and representatives from Barden's Sports and Social Club, who organised the event, presented Steph Cherington from St Luke's with a cheque for £950 at the firm's offices on Monday 18th January.

Dr Stirling commented: "The annual dinner and dance was a fantastic evening that was enjoyed by everyone who went. We were very fortunate to have support from local businesses who donated some great prizes for the charity raffle and I am delighted so much money was raised. This is thanks to the hard work and support of everyone who was involved in organising the event and who attended on the evening."

The prizes raffled on the night included match tickets from Plymouth Albion, leisure club memberships from The New Continental Hotel, dinner for two at Langdon Court and a power boat ride, sponsored by Devon Jet Skiing.

The money raised will go towards supporting the efforts of St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth. The hospice is a registered charity that is dedicated to providing highly specialised palliative and end of life care for patients who have terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families.

A further donation of £100 was given to CHICKS, a local charity specialising in giving underprivileged children a holiday in the countryside, raised through the company's use of electronic greetings cards over the festive season.
