In recent years, Baosteel increases input in material development and application and fully supports national energy strategy engineering and automobile industry development. On January 18, at 2012 National Science and Technology Awards Conference, "super-large ultra-deep high-sulfur gas field safe and efficient development technology and industrial application", joint developed by Sinopec and Baosteel, wins the grand prize of National Science and Technology Progress Awards. "Advanced high-strength thin strip flexible manufacturing technology and equipment" independently developed by Baosteel wins the second prize of National Technological Invention Awards. Jointly developed by Northeastern University, Baosteel and Anshan Steel "modern rolling technology, equipment and product R & D and innovation platform" wins the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.
To support the national energy strategy and vigorously develop and use natural gas, in 2006, Baosteel participated in "extra large ultra-deep high-sulfur gas field safe and efficient development technology and industrial application" led by Sinopec and participated by many departments. This topic focused on extra large sulfur gas field's features such as highly toxication, corrosiveness, complex mountainous and densely populated location, high development safety risk, great difficulty and carried out research in high productivity and efficiency, corrosion protection, natural gas deep purification and security risk control. Baosteel Central Research Institute, Bar, Tube and Pipeline Steel Department and Baosteel Special Material set up R & D team and assumed nickel-based alloy tubing localization R & D work. Through study and research in series of critical process and technical aspects such as chemical composition, smelting, forging, hot extrusion, heat treatment, cold-rolling and special buckle design optimization and processing, in 2008, Baosteel successfully produced 125 steel grade BG2250 nickel-based alloy tubing and there had been up to thousand meters of products put into use in Puguang 2011-5, 3011-5 gas wells. It was also the first time of domestic product complete well application. Rigorous testing by user showed that the technical performance indicators meet ISO 13680 standard requirements. The BG2250 nickel based alloy tubing developed by Baosteel applied for four invention patents, and 3 had been authorized. The successful development of nickel-based alloy tubing breaks the monopoly of foreign technology, greatly reduces high corrosive gas field development cost, provides support for national safe and efficient development of the Puguang gas field and plays an important role in our high-sulfur natural gas development promotion.
"Advanced high-strength thin strip flexible manufacturing technology and equipment" project is under the guidance and participation of Baosteel Group Co., Ltd., chairman Xu Lejiang. After 10 years of hard work, the R & D team, including Baosteel Central Academic Institute chief researcher Li Jun and Wang Li, overcomes the difficulties in advanced high strength thin strip flexible production line process and equipment integration technology, rapid cooling technology and a variety of advanced high-strength steel products and manufacturing technology. They invent a versatile high-strength steel flexible production line and R & D platform, three rapid cooling technology including high hydrogen high-speed jet cooling, new water quenching and movable ultrafine aerosol cooling. The technology reaches the international advanced level.They successfully develop and realize bulk stable production of nine categories, 27 kinds of advanced high strength steel products which can meet the automobile users' needs and fill a number of domestic blanks. In the past three years, the project accumulates over 19 billion yuan of direct economic benefits. The project has formed 22 patents, 8 invention patents, 20 technical secrets and 5 national standards. The successful development of the project helps to break the monopoly of foreign technology, propels domestic metallurgy and equipment, especially high-end cold-rolled products production processes and equipment technology progress and provides a strong support for the automotive industry energy conservation.
"Modern rolling technology, equipment and product development innovation platform " can, on a laboratory scale, apply properly designed small samples, realize truly and accurately rolling production site process, deformation and mechanical parameters and organizational performance evolution parameters, achieve new idea and new technology laboratory simulation and serve for iron and steel enterprises' process, equipment and product research, development and innovation. The project has built 30 sets of experimental equipment for 16 enterprises such as Anshan Steel and Baosteel. The experimental platform play an important role in new technology, new equipment and new product development, improving product quality and performance, reducing production costs and forming core competitiveness and it creates good economic benefits. The project has formed 10 authorized patents.
