Assessors agree that Baosteel thin strip casting technology research has reached international level, greatly enhanced our independent innovation capability and technological level in this field and that it has good market prospects and strategic significance.
Strip continuous casting technology is the most typical energy saving, highly efficient new technology of steel final shape processing technology, as well as a cutting-edge technology in current steel metallurgy field. It breaks up the traditional mode of strip production process, casting molten steel directly into thin strip. It achieves the integration of casting and rolling, so that the steel production process is more compact, continuous, efficient and environmental friendly. Compared with traditional plate production process, it not only significantly reduces investment in infrastructure, but also greatly improves the steel production energy efficiency and production efficiency and reduces production costs. Because of its sub-rapid solidification process characteristics, it is especially suitable for solving the current thermal processing problems of difficult material. Because of its good development prospects, Nucor USA, Posco Korea, ThyssenKrupp Germany invest heavily in its development. The technology competition is severe and technology protection is strict.
Since 2001, when strip casting technology research starts, during 10 years of research and development, Baosteel has made fruitful research results in thin strip casting process, product, equipment and control technology. 1200 mm pilot test platform is built and low carbon steel casting, rolling and coiling is achieved and some products are market-proven. Meanwhile medium carbon steel, micro-alloy steel, silicon steel products are also tested on the test platform with success.
Up to now, Baosteel strip casting technology has formed a relatively complete patent group. It has 110 patent applications, of which 62 invention patents and 48 utility model patents, and 62 patents have been licensed. At the same time, Baosteel strip casting technology also declared 58 enterprise technological secrets.
