It has become a global problem which has long plagued the industry.Today, Baosteel successfully developes and applies a hot strip rolling tail stability control technology and conquers 0.4 seconds specter. At present, this technology not only achieves good results in Baosteel Co.,Ltd. 2050 hot-rolling production lines but is also successfully extended to other Baosteel Co.,Ltd. hot rolling production lines. It forms a number of innovations with independent intellectual property rights, including 2 invention patents, 12 technical secrets.
Hot strip rolling tail rolling stability control is a very complex and important process. The control time is very short, the minimum time between the last two rolls is only 0.4 seconds. Once the rolling stability control is not good, in 0.4 seconds time "rolling break and flick" will occur frequently. Especially in rolling ultra-thin, ultra-wide, super steel grade specifications, this problem is more prominent, directly resulting in the increasing loss of rolls, energy waste and degradation of products and seriously affecting the unit capacity. For a long time, hot strip rolling tail rolling stability control is an old problem worldwide, prevalent in hot-rolling production line at home and abroad and it has not been completely solved. With continued increase of customer requirements on strip steel surface quality and new varieties, specification expansion and Baosteel 2050 hot rolling mill production scale continuous upgrading, hot finishing rolling tail rolling stability problem seriously affects unit capacity, strip surface quality improvement and energy consumption reduction.
In the past, the standard practice for hot rolling production line at home and abroad is in rolling temperature raising, manual leveling, roll hardness improvement, so as to reduce the strip tail deviation and tail damage to rolls. However the control is ineffective and will bring adverse effects such as iron oxide skin defect. Beginning in early 2008, in order to seek an effective process and automatic control means, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. Hot Rolling Mill set up "hot strip rolling tail stability control and related defect improvement" research team. With close cooperation among Baosteel Group research institute, Baosteel Manufacturing Department and Equipment Department, major key research on hot strip rolling tail rolling stability control is conducted.
Team members break the the original conventional control ideas, adopt new ideas and approaches, innovatively carry out stability control technology development. According to Baosteel hot rolling production process characteristics, they carefully analysis the formation mechanism of "rolling break andflick" which are mostly likely to occur in "0.4 seconds". They carry out work on roll damage reduction and tail deviation reduction. After more than three years of software program development, tracking test, evaluation, analysis, they determine reasonable process parameters and ultimately successfully develop a number of Baosteel unique strip tail stability control technology such as "finishing roll damage prevention technology" and "roll damage early warning technology". Combined with optimized conventional auxiliary process such as "tail middle wave control process", they form a set of sheet hot strip rolling tail stability control technology program. The high value-added Baosteel thin gauge high-strength pickling plate production capacity and quality control standards improve steadily. Production line "rolling break and flick" times and unplanned middle finished products number reduce significantly. Roll consumption drops, unplanned downtime reduces significantly, specifications of new products continue to expand and key technical indicators reach international advanced level.
Currently, the project has been extended to Baosteel Co.,Ltd. 1880,1580, Meishan Steel 1422 hot rolling production lines after successful application in 2050 production line. At the same time, it is promoted among other production lines.
