Recently, Baosteel and Maersk Group's global steel product procurement strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony is held in Baosteel Headquarter. Baosteel Co.,Ltd. general manager Ma Guoqiang, deputy general manager Wang Jing, Maersk Group senior vice president and chief procurement officer Carsten attend the signing ceremony.
Maersk Group was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. After more than 100 years of development, Maersk Group has developed into the world's largest container carrier and its business also touches container manufacturing, deep-sea oil exploration and exploitation and terminal logistics. Maersk Group has many years of cooperation relation with Baosteel and the two sides maintain good cooperation relations in container plate, ship plate and stainless steel.
Based on the first strategic cooperation agreement in 2009, in response to the unfavorable situation brought by the global economic slowdown and to support Maersk container manufacturing business expansion in South America, the two sides sign a new round of global steel product procurement strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides also pledge to further expand the scope of cooperation in steel new product development, regular technical exchange and cooperation and deep-sea drilling steel.
At the exchange talk before the signing ceremony, Ma Guoqiang first introduces to Maersk guests Baosteel's recent construction development, assets adjustment and key product research and development. Ma Guoqiang says that Maersk is Baosteel's important strategic partner, that faced with the serious challenges of shipping and steel market downturn brought by global economic slowdown, the two sides should strengthen cooperation in steel supply, new product R & D and application and tide over the crisis and achieve win-win situation.
Carsten says Maersk's development in many business areas needs the support of high-quality steel. Deepening strategic cooperation with Baosteel helps Maersk Group to expand business in various fields in the globe. He hopes that the two sides will further expand cooperation in the field of global steel supply and promote mutual development.
