PHENIX CITY, Alabama -- South Korean auto parts supplier Iljin Alabama is investing $15.8 million in a second expansion to its Phenix City facility.
The latest addition will add 60 jobs by 2016, the Ledger-Enquirer reported. Engineering is currently underway for this expansion and construction has started on the expansion announced in March.
Iljin Alabama is located at 14 Downing Drive, in Phenix Industrial Park off U.S. Hwy. 431. The facility makes wheel bearings for Hyundai's Montgomery plant and Kia in West Point, Ga., and Iljin recently secured contracts with General Motors and Ford.
The expansion will include industrial manufacturing and warehousing space, according to the report.
Hourly wages for new employees will be $9 per hour for the first 90 days on the job. Following the training period, hourly wages will increase to $10 per hour with full benefits.
In March, Iljin Alabama announced it would create 23 jobs and invest an additional $3 million into the plant. The company first located in Phenix City in 2010.
