Auto Drive Shaft Expansion Project with the Annual Production Capacity of One Million Sets Started in Changchun

Reporters learned from the government of Jilin Changchun Xixin Economic & Technological Development Zone that the auto drive shaft expansion project with the annual production capacity of one million sets has started, it is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

Accordingly, the project was invested by Shanghai GKN Drive Shaft Co., Ltd. (SDS). The I phase of this project has already started in the begaining of 2010 with the total investment of 408 million yuan, covers an area of 52,000 square meters, which has been formally put into production now with the annual production capacity of 0.5 million sets of constant velocity universal joint drive shaft. And the II phase of this project will be fully completed by the end of this year with the total investment of 230 million yuan, meanwhile the annual production capacity will achieve one million sets of constant velocity universal joint drive shaft.

Shanghai GKN Drive Shaft Co., Ltd. (SDS) is one of the largest & earliest sino-foreign joint ventures for auto parts manufacturing in China, which is also the main drive shaft supplier for FAW Volkswagen, FAW car, Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai gm, Shanghai automotive, Changan Ford and more than 30 auto enterprises. GKN Changchun Plant is the base for GKN Co., Ltd in Northeast China, which will be the main supplying supplier of drive shafts for auto manufacturing enterprises in Northeast China after the project had been put into production.
