Abrasive wear is the result of foreign particles entering the working area of the bearing. Typically, these particles are scale and impurities in the coolant that enter the bearing through poor-quality seals. During operation, the number of these particles gradually increases as the rings and separator wear out, then the process progresses and the bearing fails.
